We are working on developing our own strain of sustainable meatbirds for the homestead. Currently working with two breeding pens. The first pen is a Bielefelder x Cornish male over Cornish hens (F1 backcross). The second pen is Bielefelder x Cornish male over Bielefelder x Cornish and Ayam Cemani x Cornish females (F2 cross). These birds are big and meaty, but also mobile and functional. The F1's have processed nicely at 14 weeks and have averaged 5 lbs, dressed. We are offering a limited number of chicks this season.
